Victor Wanyama has said one of the main reasons he joined Tottenham was to link up with former Southampton boss Mauricio Pochettino.
The 25-year-old Kenya international midfielder joined the Saints from Celtic in summer 2013 when Pochettino was in charge at St Mary’s. Wanyama was linked with a move to White Hart Lane in summer 2015 but stayed put at St Mary’s under Ronald Koeman’s leadership.
However, when the Dutch tactician departed for Everton in the summer, Wanyama was given the green light to move on and he opted to move to Spurs. And the player has now said he believed that teaming up with the former Saints boss Pochettino again would improve him as a player. “He’s played a big part in convincing me to join the club.
“I had a few options but he was able to convince me to come here because I had worked with him before and he as a manger will improve players,”
