Tottenham move for Southampton keeper

Another day and another rumour that we Spurs fans cannot get excited over. Today we are being linked with Southampton goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga.

The Argentine shot stopper is well regarded by Pochettino and is not in the picture at Southampton having been loaned out last season. At 25, Gazzaniga has years ahead of him in the game and would be a good back up. The Sun report that he is available for just £2m.

The problem is that we don’t need Gazzaniga. We have Hugo Lloris as our club captain and first team keeper. We have Vorm as back up with plenty of Premier League and international experience to boot. Finally we have highly rated young keepers eager to be given a chance. Only last month did we see Luke McGee leave to join Portsmouth – this after a season at Peterborough that saw him named player of the season.

Gazzaniga probably wouldn’t play a game for us this season and therefore seems like a waste of a transfer and wages.
